Split solar street light vs. All-in-one solar street light: What’s the difference?

Solar energy is one of the new energy sources with a strong potential, and because of the green energy-saving and environmental protection features, various solar energy With the increasing popularity of solar street lights, solar street light products have now become ubiquitous. There are many design styles of solar street lights, and different styles have their characteristics.

Difference in structure

All-in-one solar street light. As the name implies, an all-in-one street light integrates all the components. It integrates solar panels, batteries, LED light sources, controller, mounting bracket, etc. into one.

There are two kinds of Split solar street lights, one is two-in-one solar street light and the other is a split solar street light.

  • Two-in-one solar street light: controller, battery, and light source are installed in the street light, but the solar panel is separated.
  • Split solar street light: light source, solar panel, and battery are installed separately.

Split solar street light consists of the battery, led lamp head, photovoltaic panel, controller, and light pole, and must be equipped with a light pole, the battery should be buried underground and connected through the wire inside the light pole.

Difference on the battery

  • Split solar street light uses lead-acid batteries.
  • All-in-one solar street light uses a lithium battery. The number of times of charging and discharging of a lithium battery is 3 times that of a lead-acid battery, which makes the life of a lithium battery longer.

Difference in installation

  • The split solar street light requires assembly, wiring, installation of battery bracket, lamp head, making battery pit, etc., which is relatively complicated, and the whole process takes about 1-1.5 hours.
  • All-in-one solar street light is the battery, controller, light source, and solar panel all integrated into the light, which only needs 3 simple steps to install. They can be installed on new poles or old poles, even walls, helping to save a lot of installation time and cost.

Other difference

In areas with relatively low sunlight, All-in-one solar street lights if installed on the road, we also need to consider whether they will be blocked by the plants on both sides of the road, because the shading of green plants will limit the power conversion and easily affect the brightness of the solar street light.

The solar panel of split solar street light can adjust to the sunlight to absorb the maximum amount of heat, but if the solar panel does not receive enough sunlight, its operating time will be shortened.

Therefore, the type of solar street light should be selected according to the actual application scenario.
